Mission 2010 - God did it again!!!!!

in Rennell Island - village - Hatangua

This trip had so many new aspects and all were exciting

This year we visited new villages and old, made new and visited old friends, saw God move in hearts and change lives.  Every time we go, there are new things to see and learn and experience and this was true again this year. On arrival in Honiara, it was a quick unpack and settle in and then off to our first church service.

Adeliua

Adeliua is on the outskirts of Honiara on the brow of a hill. We were marched in with the Women's Marching Band and warmly welcomed. Dennis delivered the message of salvation and Leanne and Jack did skits and in our meal time after the service, many shared the impact God had made in their hearts.  Next day was spent repacking boxes that had arrived months earlier by ship. They need to be ready for freight by plane with us the next day.  We met with friends and had team time - that is always special.  We share what God is saying to us and pray into the villages we are about to be entering. Sunday morning early we take the trip to the domestic airport ready to board for Rennell.

Womens MinistryUpon landing at Rennell airport, we were trucked up to our accommodation and then it was a quick turn around to get down the long path through the bush to the church of Hatangua.  Church services, children's, women's and men's ministry and visiting people in their homes and praying for those who call on us and meeting with people one on one, encouraging them all through their tough circumstances of life is the program in each village.

Beks

We prayed for Margaret who was in the local hospital.  Nothing like what we would see as hygienically suitable yet they love and care for their patients well under the circumstances. They were not sure of her problem but she had a drip in and was writhing in pain.  She was barely conscious, could not speak or respond.  After praying for her twice, her son gave us the report that she now was well, the drip out and behaving normally.  He said "it is a miracle". George came for prayer to our home having suffered chest pain for 5 years.  We prayed and he said "I felt something moving out of my chest".  He was crying with joy. God had him on His heart and gave us a word for him.  He was very pleased.

Then it was another truck ride to   --    Kanava ......

2010 - God did it again!!!

Rennell Island - village - Kanava

In Kanava we ministered for three days.  Saw God move in the young people as they responded to the message. football
Were excited to see that the leaders have started soccer tournaments with neighboring villages to get the young people off the drugs and beetle nut and into something healthier.  We witnessed one of those games where they had a FIFA trained ref and players playing hard and fast!!!!  - no boots, no jerseys and no shin pads. Great fun.

Jordan and BarnabasWe met and prayed for Jordan, a 12 year old boy who has suffered meningitis as a baby with no treatment available.  He is a big lad and mum and dad are in 100% attendance catering for his every need which are many.  They have to carry him on their backs and he is at least 5 feet tall. His parents, Barnabas and Constance are incredibly loving and testify to the strength God gives for them to handle their challenges.

Jackson BibleAn old man visited us asking for a bible.  As we had not yet reached the village where all our books and bibles had arrived, Jack was keen for him to have his.  He proudly brought it to church and we saw him reading it by himself.

In our women's ministry in this village we encouraged them to pray for each other believing that God will heal.  There were some healed and one lady actually felt her leg grow as we watched it.

After saying our goodbyes it was back on the truck to the next village which was  --   Nuipani

2010 - God did it again!!!

Rennell Island - village - Nuipani

We took a truck to Tebeitehai and then a canoe across the Lake Tegoa which is the largest fresh water lake within the Pacific Ocean. Nuipani is on the mainland but it is quicker to take a canoe across the lake to the village than trekking through the jungle on the one man track.  We experienced rain the whole three days.

Rain

I mean when we were taking the services and ministry times with women, kids and men - it teamed and we could not be heard!!!!  It was amazing to see what they have to deal with.  We asked the pastor, what do you do when it is raining like this during your services.  He just smiled and said "We just wait till it stops a bit then go again!"  It was so interesting how each village was just a totally different experience.

caterpillarsHere we "felt" the presence of many kids.  If we managed to get them out of the house, they were standing at the window on the veranda watching our every move.  Here we swam in the lake for a "shower" and washed our clothes at the same time while all the village kids swam beside us!!!  Now there is a cultural experience to be had.  You can imagine how clean the water now was after being stirred by about 30 kids!   All adds to the fun of being on mission.

We prayed with Chloe.  Chloe, again, is a result of no medical being available at the time. She too suffered meningitis.

chloeWe first met her in 2008 when we prayed for her healing.  She is now 5 years old.  Still not able to do anything other than lie on her mat.  She struggles to eat and is covered in a rash resulting from poor nutrition. Her big chocolate eyes follow you but it is sad to see this small person locked away inside a non-functioning body.  Our prayer is still that she will know complete recovery.

More goodbyes and into the canoe back to Tebeitehai and then a truck ride to   --  Avatai

2010 - God did it again!!!

Rennell Island - village - Avatai

churchAvatai is nestled  into the side of the 150 meter almost sheer cliff of coral to the ocean.  I mean this place has views that would be a millionaires dream hideaway.  Each village is built around the church which is the social hub.  In this village we had the privilege of praying in every home.people
God gave us words for the families we prayed for and some needed prayer for healing. We saw a lady pray for her friend during our women's ministry teaching on praying for the sick.  She wanted us to pray but we told her to lay hands on her friend and pray.  The old lady she prayed for exploded with "Hem good now. Hem healed.  No more pain!!" and she was joyously rubbing her knees while her praying friend was starring in wonder and amazement that her prayer had been effective.  God has called us to equip them and once they see that they too can pray and see results their faith goes to another level.  Gloria had "backslidden" and at one of our services she came forward.  Her sister Mary had been praying for her and came to us so excited at her sisters decision.  As we were leaving she came running to us saying "thank you for saving me".  Praise God it is wonderful to see Him working.

There was James, a young man in his late 20s I would say who had teeth blackened with nicotine and fingers just as stained.

jamesHe was very nervy and edgy.  We kept assuring him as we sat on the mat on the floor of his three roomed hut, that God loved him and thought he was special.  He wouldn't give us eye contact.  We prayed for him and hugged him as we left. The next day we visited again with a book.  He said he had no bible so we were able to get a new bible for him from the supplies we had sent previously which had arrived in this village.  We saw him sitting on his step reading for a long time.  When we went to say goodbye to him, he smiled and said he read the bible all night.

dennis

Men's ministry was always well received where they were discussing the seven churches in Revelation and being asked how does your church measured with each one. There was some great positive discussions had at all villages.

We were very encouraged this mission trip and are excitedly planning next years already. God blessed us in so many ways.  We had no excess luggage expenses on the way over which we praise Him for.  We received a donation from the first village in Honiara, Adeluia, to help with the mission to Rennell. We also received another donation from the first church we visited in Honiara after returning from Rennell.  Both of these gifts were totally unexpected and were answers to the prayers before we left the airport in Brisbane, that this trip would meet with great financial favor from God.  We are also blown away at the goodness of God in how plane flights. All flights were cancelled after arriving on Rennell due inclement weather and just before we were to return to Honiara flights were being cancelled but the day we left it was a fine clear day.  That is what Daddy did for us and we LOVE HIM.
